macOS support

Zink Tools on Mac, free.

347 of the effects run natively on macOS, universal for Apple Silicon and Intel. The Mac build carries no licence check at all: nothing to activate, no code to enter, no watermark. It is genuinely free.

Installing

Three steps, and the third one is not optional.

Steps

  • Quit After Effects
  • Copy the .plugin folder from the zip into your After Effects Plug-ins folder
  • Clear the macOS quarantine flag (below), then start After Effects

Where they go

  • /Applications/Adobe After Effects [version]/Plug-ins/
  • ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/[version]/MediaCore/

If the effects don't appear, this is why

These builds are not signed or notarised, so macOS quarantines anything downloaded from the web. After Effects then refuses to load the plugins and shows no error at all: they simply are not in the menu. Run this in Terminal, pointed at whichever Plug-ins folder you used, and restart After Effects.

What's supported on Mac today

Every effect below has a macOS build and works the same way it does on Windows. Open one and use the Download for macOS button on its page. Anything not listed here is Windows-only for now.

An updated list is coming

This build predates part of the catalogue, so the newest effects are not in it yet. They are being ported, and this page is the list that gets updated when they land: check back rather than guessing from the Windows catalogue.

Grab it, it costs nothing.

No account, no code, no expiry. If something misbehaves on your Mac, tell me and I'll fix it.
